Time released its list of the “100 Most Influential People of 2025″ on Wednesday, and there are plenty of familiar faces featured by the magazine.
The 100 people chosen by the magazine vary from actors to musicians to world leaders to news anchors to entrepreneurs, among many others. Those who were chosen were put into six different categories: artists, icons, leaders, titans, pioneers and innovators.
In a story explaining why people were chosen, Time editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs wrote the magazine’s founders “knew that focusing on the individuals who are transforming the world is the best way to help readers understand it.”
“What happens next?” Jacobs wrote. “As journalists, that is the question we get asked more than any other, particularly these days. As we were closing this issue, President Donald Trump introduced a tariff plan that upended the global economic system. For many readers, the move accelerated the sense that almost everything was shifting, with very real consequences for themselves and their neighbors. Some celebrate these changes. Others condemn them. No one is certain what comes next.”
Notable actors on the list include Diego Luna, Scarlett Johansson and Demi Moore, all under the “artists” category. Musicians Ed Sheeran and Hozier also appear in this category, along with comedic actresses Rashida Jones and Kristen Wiig.
Six members of the Trump administration, including President Donald Trump himself, appear on the list. This selection was “the largest contingent from a political Administration since Barack Obama arrived in Washington in 2009, a recognition of where global disruption originates today,” Jacobs wrote.
This includes Vice President JD Vance, Tesla CEO and presidential advisor Elon Musk and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Among the “titans,” long-running producer and founder of “Saturday Night Live” Lorne Michaels made the list. Award-winning author Percival Everett, whose book “Erasure” was adapted into the 2023 film “American Fiction,” also made the list. Tennis player Serena Williams, Olympian Simone Biles and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also appear.
This issue will be physically released on Thursday with five different covers featuring five influential people profiled by Time reporters. This includes Sheeran, Williams, Moore, musician and philanthropist Snoop Dogg (“whose omnipresence is a study in contradictions,” Jacobs wrote) and Demis Hassabis, the CEO of Google DeepMind and winner of a 2024 Nobel Prize.
